TAX NOTE: All contributions and donations made through Groundswell are processed through Groundswell Charitable Foundation (GCF), a 501(c)(3) public charity described in IRS code 170(b)(1)(A)(vi). GCF operates as a Class VII organization on its Schedule A and is considered a donor-advised fund (DAF).

Beginning in 2026, new federal tax rules may change how certain charitable contributions are treated for some taxpayers—especially for smaller-dollar giving and for donors who do not itemize deductions. These rules may affect contributions made through donor-advised funds (DAFs), including contributions processed through GCF. Groundswell is working with other platforms in its space to gain clarification from the Treasury Department on how donations made to charities like GCF will be treated under these new laws.

To best ensure the tax-deductibility of your donations, you can make a direct-to-charity donation outside of the Groundswell portal/mobile app and then request an offline match through Powering Good.

Groundswell is unable to provide tax guidance. You should always check with your tax professional before making any charitable gifts.
