Groundswell delivers donations through trusted distribution partners to ensure fast, secure, and compliant delivery. For U.S.-based charities, donations are distributed through Chariot. Once a charity creates and verifies its Chariot account, donations are deposited directly into that account within approximately 24 - 48 hours of the donation date. Charities can log in to the Chariot dashboard to view donor information (unless the donor chose to remain anonymous), donation amount, donation notes, and payout history, and can withdraw funds to their bank account at any time. If a charity has not set up or verified a Chariot account, donations are sent by paper check to the organization’s IRS-listed address.
For international charities, donations are distributed through CAF America and its regional partners. Groundswell submits international grants to CAF every two weeks along with a funding wire, after which CAF adds the grants to its weekly payment cycle (which closes each Thursday) and completes compliance review. Funds are sent either directly to the charity (by wire or check) or through a vetted partner organization such as CAF Ireland, CAF UK, or Good2Give. Because of international compliance and banking requirements, international donations typically take longer to arrive than U.S. donations, and CAF may contact charities directly to confirm banking details or documentation before releasing funds.
