How To: Request a Donation Match for Offline Donations

If you made a charitable donation outside (offline) of Groundswell, but you still want to receive the match from your employer, you can do so with a match request. For example, an offline match request would be useful if you were at a fundraising event and decide to write a paper check donation on the spot, rather than donate through the Groundswell platform.

How to request a donation match on the Groundswell Web App

Have your donation receipt(s) ready. In Groundswell, navigate to...

Step 1. Click "Upload receipt" in the box underneath the welcome message 

Step 2. In the"receiving charity" section, select the charity you donated to. You can search by charity name or the 9-digit EIN.

Step 3. Specify the donation amount you want matched 

Step 4. Include the date your donation was made 

Step 5. Include any donation note you wish to include. This is required if you are looking to get a donation match for a fundraiser (i.e. marathon, PTA, etc). Refer to this help center article to learn more about donation notes. 

Step 6. Upload a photo of your donation receipt. The receipt must include your name, donation date, charity name, and amount.

Step 7. Once your offline donation match is reviewed by someone at Groundswell, the match will be sent. Note: if your company does not process donation matches instantly, then the timeline for when a charity receives a match will be in accordance with the company's program configuration.

How to request a donation match on the Groundswell Mobile App

Step 1. Scroll down to the "Take Action" section of your dashboard 

Step 2. Scroll to "Request donation match"

Step 3. In the search bar, select the charity you donated to. You can search by charity name or the 9-digit EIN.

Step 4. Upload a photo of your donation receipt. The receipt must include your name, donation date, charity name, and amount.

Step 5. Once your offline donation match is reviewed by someone at Groundswell, the match will be sent. Note: if your company does not process donation matches instantly, then the timeline for when a charity receives a match will be in accordance with the company's program configuration.
